About Grange Farm Camping and Cottages
In the early 15th Century, monks at Quarr Abbey were given a plot of coastal land to farm. This became Grange Farm. In 1628, King Charles I sold the land to the City of London. Grange Farm has had had many owners since .
In 1860 they built a lifeboat station in Grange Chine. Modernisation of the shipping industry forced it to close in 1915 and the building became a beach café. Sadly, a bomb destroyed it early in the second world war. (But don’t worry, we sell tea, coffee, ice-cream and more in our shop. You can still enjoy a quiet cuppa or ice-cream whilst admiring the view!)
The farm now provides natural habitats for wildlife as well as facilities for campers and holiday makers. It sits in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and a Site Of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The Isle of Wight is of particular interest to science due to the rare species of fauna and flora found on it and it also has important geological features. We encourage our guests to appreciate and enjoy all of this and you can see photos of our wildlife on our instagram page or in our gallery.
The south west of the Island has high conservation value and is rightly protected. All of us at Grange Farm, work hard to ensure our visitors have a great holiday whilst respecting the environment. The natural, unspoilt nature of the Isle of Wight, enables us and the local flora/fauna to thrive alongside each other. We encourage our guests to appreciate and enjoy all that surrounds us. You can see photos of some of the wildlife spots on our instagram page or in our gallery.
We regularly earn David Bellamy Conservation awards. Scroll down to our footer to see them! You can find out more about the David Bellamy Conservation awards by clicking here.
